Personal Bio and About Me

I run post-collegiately for the Indiana Invaders Track Club in Indianapolis. I compete mainly in the 800 and 1500. This is my first year running for a professional team so I look forward to what I can accomplish with my new training partners and Coach.

My path to where I am now is far from the norm. I grew up and competed at LaPorte High School in Northern Indiana. While there, I qualified for the IHSAA State Meet in the 300 M Hurdles and Long Jump. I also competed in the High Jump all four years. I wasn't very good at distance running while in High School. I broke 17 minutes only one time in the 5k in XC. I ran a few indoor miles in High School as a Freshman but after having little success, moved to field events.

I was offered only one scholarship for College...to a Junior College in Southern Indiana named Vincennes University. I loved Track and Field so I was excited to continue my career and accepted the offer. While there, I competed in the Pentathlon and Decathlon, as well as a few 400 M Hurdle races with little success. During my second year, I suffered a freak injury, severly dislocating my shoulder in the high jump of all events. The injury would eventually prove career-ending for my Decathlon career. I was able to compete at the Outdoor National meet that year, and throwing javelin and discuss with my left hand, was able to earn All-American status in the Decathlon and later as a leg on the 4x400 relay.

After graduating from VU, I again received just one offer from a 4-year College...Indiana State University in Terre Haute. ISU recruited me as a multi-event athlete. I did not disclose my injury to them and accepted a scholarship under the assumption I would do the Hep and Deca. When school rolled around, I went out for Cross Country which I had also done at VU with little success. Through XC, I convinced the coaches to let me try running middle distance based off a 600 meter time I had run at VU (1:20.99). Reluctantly, they eventually bought into me running MD.

I was able to train next to a 1:48 guy in Kurt Heimann, a Senior at the time. I learned pretty quick and was able to run 1:52.03 my first year. My second year was a let down however, as I battled through sickness and injury, I didnt compete in about half of the meets and failed to run any PR's my second year.

When I graduated, I knew that I wanted to continue competing, but didnt know anything about post-collegiate running. I had only been running middle distance for 2 years and knew I had more room to improve. I ran unattached at local meets for 2 years, eventually getting my 800 time down to 1:50.79 and even ran the indoor mile a few times, clocking a P.R. of 4:16.96.

I knew that if I wanted to take my running to the next level, I needed a change. I had been running workouts by myself with no facilities or coach for 2 years. I needed training partners, a coach, and somewhere to do the tough winter workouts. This is when I approached Coach Harger with Indiana Invaders. I had admired the Invaders and their middle distance success for a couple years after seeing them at meets I would compete at. Coach Harger was kind enough to take me on as an athlete and I look forward to proving to him that I am a good investment!

Personal Life:
